As some of you may know Braigen has Kidney Reflux, and she was going to the hospital today for follow-up tests to see if it has progressed any. The reason they decided to go ahead and do the test was because she has had 4 U.T.I's in the last 2 months.
The test consists of putting a catather in and filling her stomach completely full with dye. When her bladder gets full they tell her to slowly tee-tee so they can take pictures (X-Rays) of her bladder and kidneys, and with anyone with children you know it is hard to convince a four year old to tee-tee on the table when she has been potty trained for quite some time!!
All in all she did ok but as you can imagine she was absolutely terrified!! They told us while we were there that she defiantly still has kidney reflux on her left side probably in a stage four..which is the same as when she was one year old. We are still waiting for the final report from her doctor to she what they want to do, either keep her on medicine or do surgery to correct it, so please continue to pray for her and I'll keep you posted.

Hey girl. I just found your blog. Sydney had/has bilateral ureteral reflux as well. She was diagnosed at 4 months and had severe infections until age 5 1/2 when she supposedly outgrew it. Syd took Bactrim daily and still got tons of infections. It was very hard to control. (Syd also has a defect of 2 right ureters that complicated things slightly but I dont know how much that factored into her infections.) She is 14 1/2 now and actually was just diagnosed with her first bladder infection in 9 years last week. Dr. Latona is sending us back to Dr. Joseph at Childrens' to get a consult & to have her Renal ultrasound and VCU repeated to make sure everything is still ok. He doesnt wanna play around with it because Syd suffered so much years ago. Bless your poor lil girls heart. We DEFINITELY understand TOTALLY!!! Who is her doc? Hope Braigen is feeling better. We have been praying for her. I know it is harder on kids to have this problem. Bless her little heart.
